'He Stands Proud.'

'He Stands Proud.'

A Poem by Jason S Breed

The black & white picture
Sits in the frame on the wall.
A child sits on an old metal rocking horse.
His mother steadies him
With cotton candy gloves.
In the background
A sibling sulks
Whilst a father stands proud.

This is his family.
Two sons and a loving wife.
The black & white film
Blanks out the vibrant colours
Of the memory.
The pain and anguish,
The hopes and dreams,
The trials and tribulations
Await the three spinners thread
To entwine the story together.

I stand back and wipe
The dust from the glass,
A proud father myself.
The man in the photograph
Smiles back.
He is the father I have
And I hope I have made him proud.
