Down To The Shore

Down To The Shore

A Poem by Jason van Dongen

Follow me, down to the shore,
Leave thy burdens and restore,
Thy visage; let thy spirit soar,
On the rising tempest and be free.

Feel the sand between thy toes,
And the salty wind that blows,
From whence no earthly being knows,
Let the cold sea wash the cares from thee.

Tarry on the shore awhile;
Let the sweeping waves beguile,
From thy sad count'nance a smile,
And let thy sorrow drift out to sea.
