Once More To The Shore

Once More To The Shore

A Poem by Jason van Dongen

Come with me once more, down to the shore,
Come with me this once, and I'll entreat thee no more;
In the wake of the breaking waves let us stand,
Let us curl our toes in the froth on the sand;
We will bask in a silence broken only by birds,
As the sea speaks to us as by ten thousand words;
It will heal our spirits without so much as a touch,
And we will forget why we worry so much;
And then, as the sun sets over the sea,
You will be glad you listened to me.
