What We Cannot Change

What We Cannot Change

A Poem by JayJayBlue
"

About how people try to change their moral compass, but will revert back to type in the end

"
We all have scores to settle
Every year we promise to be better men
And by the spring
All of our hopes are crushed

We see feel-good movies
With characters whiter than white
Holier-than thou
We all know it's empty, a false life

Let's accept that we cannot change
Who the f**k should we blame
Why live any kind of holy life
When heaven and hell are the same

I've taken a vow before you all
To lead a better life, to be in awe of any god
Morally superior for a second
But even angels will fall

I need to present myself before heaven
But the moral code is skewered
It's okay to kill but not to love
So long as you bathe in holy waters

Let's accept that we cannot change
Who the f**k should we blame
Why live any kind of holy life
When heaven and hell are the same

Very blunt and straight to the point. It's true. We all make 'New Years Resolutions' but never stick to them and follow the rules of others. You have expressed it perfectly and flows very nicely.
