As The Cameras Roll

As The Cameras Roll

A Poem by JayJayBlue
"

A deconstruction of Hollywood rom-coms/romantic dramas

"
She's impossibly beautiful
And he's from another world
Two stars perfect, but tragic enough to appeal
Contrived problems so easy to solve
It exists as long as the cameras roll
The scenery is mind-blowing
Soft-focus lens on a sunny day
Shots captured of a pondering pose
Perfect weather in glamorous places
Exquisite smiles on Hollywood faces
It's the end of the film
And romance is shed as the credits roll
The cinema is emptying
And all that's left
Is the feeling of being bereft
This studio paradise is awash with rain
All suffering is soon mended
Where's the wistful voice and piano score?
It tears my jaded heart from soul
But only as long as the cameras roll
And the camera pans out, ready for the end
The last kiss has been and gone
And here comes the tears to fall
Then the false world comes crashing down
Just another procession for the crowd
It's the end of the film
And romance is shed as the credits roll
The cinema is emptying
And all that's left
Is the feeling of being bereft
