Blood And Gold

Blood And Gold

A Poem by JayJayBlue
"

About how quickly your good fortune can turn for the worst

"
Once we were kings, adorned with red and gold
The sun in splendour, greater than the gods
We spilt our blood and harvested souls
And where are we now, but fighting another war?

Loved or feared by so many peasants
But the tide is soon to turn
Stripped of all but our brittle flesh
And the crowns upon our heads

Where were the songs
That you sung at the end of the battle
Voiceless and lifeless
We're drained of our humanity

And the knights march against our empty thrones
And the bards no longer sing of our legacies
The people throw down the banners of red and gold
Indulging in all of their macabre fantasies

And condemned to the wastes
We live now amongst the people
Spit in disgust at the hollow thrones
As we learn of the nature of evil

Where were the songs
That you sung at the end of the battle
Voiceless and lifeless
We're drained of our humanity
