A Million Beats An Hour (And Other Lies)

A Million Beats An Hour (And Other Lies)

A Poem by JayJayBlue
"

A somewhat light hearted deconstruction of love based poetry (including my own)

"
I wish you were here, or maybe not
Because all the pedestals I built for you would collapse
Falling head over heels, and I'm sure I've broken a bone
Romance is the weather, blowing cold and hot
I could talk to you all night, my love
But I think half an hour is already enough

I need to see you, though I can wait
I'm trying to draw a picture of you how I see it
Blank out every flaw that we mutually possess
Edit the script to perfect our future dates
Let me keep the dream and not the reality
Love is a million ways to test my sanity

My heart's beating a million times an hour
Is it too late to see the doctor?
I'll write you a letter or pick you a flower
Both of which were stolen anyway

I could hold you forever, though I better go
Pins and needles are much more urgent presence
Our eyes met, though I was looking towards the bar
Love is chemistry, burning through my clothes
I must hold your hand forever, maybe soon
As I stagger drunkenly from the room

Let's get married, but why handle the expense
There's other couples thinking the same thing
All different, but romance can never change
All the same arguments, every same defence
I've got to hold you tight, but you'll suffocate
But life runs as normal, and I'm running late

My heart's beating a million times an hour
Is it too late to see the doctor?
I'll write you a letter or pick you a flower
Both of which were stolen anyway
