If you understood

If you understood

A Poem by Jayda Jackson

Different isn't bad,
Different can be good.
It's how you think about it,
It's how it's understood.
You grow up with surroundings,
That are all just alike.
That when the new arrives,
You must put up a fight.
To you that fight is good,
To them, they go along.
To the new, it feels left out.
To the new, this is wrong.
Wrong can be bad,
But wrong can be good.
It's simply based upon,
How it's understood.
The new cries for help,
But there's no old taking a stand.
All the new wanted was help,
All the new needed was a hand.
Giving a hand can be bad,
But giving a hand can be good.
I guess it just depends on,
How it's understood.
You grew up to be this way,
Something new comes about.
But before you judge it's worth,
Let it remove your doubt.
A doubt can be bad,
But a doubt can be good.
It all depends on the way,
It's simply understood.
But you're the one who understands,
It's up to you to pick.
But remember your decision,
Is what will surely stick.
It'll pass on to your children,
To them they will see.
That being new is what you chose,
That it just has to be.
Well I was once the new,
Trying to take a stand.
But nobody chose to be there,
Nobody gave a hand.
Your choice can be bad,
Your choice can be good.
But it truly just depends on,
If you understood.
