Skin

Skin

A Poem by Jazz
"

Here is the completed version! I acted upon the advice of some wise people and took the other version down as it was not yet completed.

"

Skin is but a canvas onto which the past is painted,

A scarred portrait of an innocent life, stolen and tainted.

A scarred portrait encompassed of different shades of blue and red

Which depict an undeniable truth that cannot be said.

Skin is but a testament, from which lessons are learned from past mistakes,

A scarred shrine to memories that no one can forsake.

A scarred shrine constructed in a life that was dark and empty

And filled with an oppressive force that was silent yet deadly.

Skin is but an open book, filled with words of sorrow for all to read,

A scarred biography upon which longing, thirsty souls feed.

A scarred biography that has reached its concluding chapter...

The final page has been turned and you, dreaded Darkness, are no longer my captor.

A very high level of writing here. The words are well chosen and actually make sense to the line and stanzas as they appear; something less experienced writers often miss. This hits the mark dead on and I found the meter very liquid and flowing in a controlled yet exciting manner. A very, very good poem. I rated it very high.

God Bless
