On My Skin

On My Skin

A Poem by The Autumn Faerie
"

It just sort of flowed out of me...

"

On my skin, your fingers,
Touching, admiring, fondling;
Committing to memory every dimple,
Every curvature.

On my skin, your eyes,
Gazing, probing, inspecting;
Committing to memory every freckle,
Every scar.

On my skin, your lips,
Kissing, devouring, tasting;
Committing to memory every flavor,
Every bead of sweat.

I feel this, you, every inch of you,
Aflame, blazing over me, one with me,
My heart, pounding,
Your breath, gasping.

We squiggle and squirm
Between the sheets;
A youthful match,
In the game of love.

And when the moment’s ended, I watch you
Walk out the door, on me, on us, on this,
For good, for always, forever,
Never looking back, with much regret.

On my skin, this longing,
Hoping, wanting, wishing;
Committing to memory every kiss,
Every letdown.

On my skin, this weakness,
Swelling, advancing, evolving;
Committing to memory every encounter,
Every parting.

On my skin, this failure,
Growing, ebbing, progressing;
Committing to memory every heartbeat,
Every heartbreak.

Left on my skin; is this; is you:
The laughter  --  the tears,
The love  --  the hate,
The months  -- the years.

And, I’m thankful for every moment spent:
In joy  --  in pain,
In happiness  --  in sorrow,
In life  --  In death.

I’m screaming this from the rooftops,
To tell the world of a love so rare,
The love I once held in my hands,
The one I let go, and have never found again.

I’d give it all,
Just to hold you again.
I’d give it all,
For one last kiss.

Hi Raye, I have read this poem twice, and this fetched me enough satisfaction to say that I am speechless by the rationalily that this poem has; it has everything - love and loss - depicted in beautifully crated words in verse.

Good work.

Thank you.

Raja.
