Cat's Cradle

Cat's Cradle

A Poem by Jellyfish_Princess
"

Okay, so this poem is one of my personal favourites out of all of the poems that I have written. When I was a little girl, I loved to play cat's cradle (and I still do). Enjoy & thanks for reading.

"

We're in this horrid, repulsive, crimson-stained game I've come to call cat's cradle
Round and round we are spinning like mindless toys known as dreidels.
A scarlet string of fate is firmly attached to you
And if you follow it's end, you'll find me attached too.
We are just like marionettes, with many strings connected
Controlling and slowly killing, not caring how we're effected.
Finally an oppritunity and now we have the chance
So I'm going to take your hand and start our deadly dance.
We're dancing through the wires that take a fearsome form
Try to ignore cuts and fires and our skin so easily torn.
You know that if I'm with you, you will be alright
You've taken my hand so gently but you have to hold it tight.
And when our God shall cease to forgive me, I know you definitely will
Please forgive me for the sympathy I feel for the ones that we must kill.
Even if I run I know that you will follow
You know that I'll always you for my heart is nevermore hollow.
Now that a choice has arisen I've decided I done with this, I won't do this anymore
I won't play unfortunate this game and that is certainly for sure

And even now that we've dropped out to go
We'll still die our predestined death, so
Round and Round we'll forever spin like mindless toys known as dreidels
This disasterous, vulgar, solemn game I've came to call cat's cradle.
