When You Stare Into the Sun

When You Stare Into the Sun

A Poem by Jenna Kay

My eyes are playing tricks on me
The one I thought I cared for is transforming into someone I don't recognize
Her midnight hair bleaching in the daylight
The brown in her hazel eyes is consumed by an ocean of green
She towers over me now, as if she thought I needed her to
That I wanted this
Well I don't know what I want

She acts different, too
My love who once disregarded my affection is now wanting more
Before she couldn't even look me in the eyes because she couldn't stand what they were trying to tell her
She can't look in my eyes now because they are closed as she passionately kisses my lips
And I don't have to say a word

It's a good thing too
Because how do I tell her that I like this new form better

I'll just say that my eyes are playing tricks me
