Returns

Returns

A Poem by Jennesis

Indecision plagues his world
Unable to understand
The whispers of his heart
Spending more time
Returning purchases
Than enjoying them
He's trying to find his worth
Amidst the red tagged
marked down clearance rack items
How many times do you replace
The towels and rugs
Before you realize that what
you're searching for
comes from within?

"Indecision plagues his world
Unable to understand
The whispers of his heart " - I apologize for taking the pedantic angle here (and I know I should probably not be saying this.. considering the fact that you are a marriage and family therapist.. and my line of work has got nothing to do with marriages or families :P)..

I am being over scrupulous about the first line because I believe it is one of the lines around which your poem is constructed..

In life, I don't believe in "indecisions" . The hardest lesson in life is to learn which bridge to cross and which to burn.. We cannot see what the future holds for us.. What are we supposed to do apart from trusting our instincts?. We all have to make certain decisions blindly.. trusting nothing but what our hearts tell us.. Yes, we will fail several times.. But that's part of life.. Our failure has nothing to do with the decision we made. We will have to live with the repercussions of our decisons.

In your field of work you might have seen people complaining about each other... About how the other person destroyed him / her.. Decisions of marriage / divorce.. It's just that things didn't go the way they expected them to... right?

"Before you realize that what
you're searching for
comes from within?" - I completely agree.. Sometime we will have to stop searching for certain things outside and look deep within our souls.. That is where the actual answers hide..

I found this poem to be quite intriguing..I liked it.. :)

So very true. We often try to distract ourselves from what is going on inside with the things that are easiest to change - rugs are easy to change.
