Affinities

Affinities

A Poem by Jenny Davis
"

Written in Hemingway style (run-on sentence)

"

Unhinge the shutters, my soul needs to breath

and I cannot see through the screen

that is in the way of my heart-

and yours which floats quietly outside the little vents

that let in tiny rays of light-

Enough only to allow me to see that there is something more than me and here

and even you- who I love in my own way but not like traditional love,

more of a cosmic connection of sorts that brings forth emotions

that aren't describable nor viable in the ruins of an earth

that cries and sighs with the sight and sound of us-

Because we are human now and know nothing more

than to do what we must in this climate of physical life-
Which bounds our spirits to flesh and soil

effecting our true selves by locking them up

with orbits of confusion that we can't grasp

and things that are meaningless

and dipped in clocks that tick

and scream "No, not yet."

I like this style and applaud you trying something different... and I must say you did one awesome job as Hemmingway would be proud... it's true that love and life is a rollercoaster of emotions and in order to enjoy it we must take the ups and downs all as learning experiences... Bravo for the insightfulness and reminder of how a real life is to be lived.

this style is so my life sometimes, as I always seem to be constantly going full steam with all things running into another lol fantastic job with this piece - so brilliantly done one does not even pause for breath - feeling the intensity of the poem itself. life certainly is an eventful ride that can overwhelm us and cause us to forget to pause even for a simple pleasure.

This was an interesting style, Jenny, there is no meter but still it was a harmonic experience and I thought you always are able to end your poem so that this is manifesting itself and reveals the complete message of your poem... I loved it ! So what is t do, I ask myself... I found out the best is not to have any expectation at all. Bravo, darlin! (Looked if the show is on your site, but not yet..I will have a look later).

Wow Jenny, this is different for you, and very beautifully done!

"that cries and sighs with the sight and sound of us-
Because we are human now and know nothing more
than to do what we must in this climate of physical life-
Which bounds our spirits to flesh and soil.."

This says so much. Our spirits have the power
to move this universe right into another, yet we are
bound by flesh for now, which has its limits...
limits to love, to understand and comprehend,
to just go with it and get through it.

You amaze me every time!
This is yet another exceptional write from you my friend.. :)

Jenny, you did such a great job with this! I love the flow of this because it mirrors my mind sometimes when I get to thinking. You've packed so much into this piece and it's so rich and vibrant. Beautiful work.
