Lost

Lost

A Poem by Colin

I can hear the rain, loud bursts pounding against my drums as I stood outside her door. The chilling feeling of the wind blowing through my body. I knock, but theres no answer. I knock louder, still no answer. I yell at the top of my lungs, and yet still no answer. I feel so numb. My fingertips begin to swell and sting as I struggle to find the key she gave me. Where's the key ? My mind frantically wants to find it, but my body stays still. Cold, I begin to think where did I last have the key. The rain gets louder, the air gets colder, the sky gets darker. Suddenly, the lights go out, the houses next door disappear. I'm left alone at her door. Where's the key? I have to find the key ! But alas, the rain continues to pour, the wind steadily blows as I stand here at the door alone. With every minute that goes by, reality starts to set in. I didn't lose the key. I never had it...
