Mr. Merrick

Mr. Merrick

A Poem by Gigglez
"

RIP Joseph Merrick, the Elephant Man.

"
Resting inside a
deformed shell like
that of an Elephant
is a soul of profound
beauty and sadness.

Why was God so cruel?
What have you done, in
this life or the last to
merit such a curse?

Poor Mr. Merrick,
lost in grief and loneliness.
I pray for the peace of
your soul as you lay
in the arms of Sister Death,
who will love you
better than any
living woman
ever would in
your past life.

Maybe you can
live again,
try again
and this time,
hopefully,
you will be
blessed with
normalcy.

Author's Note

Gigglez
Mr. Joseph Merrick was born with a rare disease that caused a lot of deformity to his skin and bones. Science still hasn't revealed what it exactly is.
