Dreams

Dreams

A Poem by Jessica Wellentin

We slowly disappear, one by one into the fire.

As we slowly start to crumble the world fades to white.

Then with one flash we see the world from above then reality sinks in

and I find myself in the hole that I have dug.

The world is still slightly faded yet somehow completely clear.

I don’t know where I am or how I got here, but I don’t ever want to leave

Then I hear a voice, and everything fades back to white

I get one last glance at what looks like paradise,

to only see it darken, it slowly goes black, and now I’m up in the clouds.

Is it over?

All the pain?

All the suffering?

It goes black again.

This time when I open my eyes instead of seeing my beautiful paradise,

I woke up and saw what ending up being my worst nightmare,

reality
