Daddy's Little Girl

Daddy's Little Girl

A Poem by Jewels
"

"A little girl's heart breaking"

"

Bitter reality sets in

As I realize this would be the end.

My little eyes stare down the hall

As I watch and I hear a marriage fall.

Hysterical cries and pleas

"Don't leave, please! Don't Leave!"

Banging and crashing falls free

As I sit in silence asking

"God, why me?"

"Does nobody know what is going on?

Can anybody help fix what went wrong?"

My tiny eyes begin to leak

Tears run down my cheeks.

I kneel at my bed and let my heart out

"I've never felt hurt before,

Whats this all about?"

I thought I was daddy's little girl, you see

So I don't get why he would just leave me.

Now mommy is crying

and I sit in my room, holding Mr. Lion, wondering what to do.

I slowly get up and walk to my mom

I may be little, but I know

Somethings really wrong.

"I love you mommy"

Is what I say and she turns to me and says

"Everything will be okay."

But years have past and still I hurt,

For my 7 year old heart had been left in the dirt.

It never came back and it never will.

I'm no longer,

'Daddy's little girl.'

I applaude you for really capturing the thoughts and feelings of a child caught in the night of a father's leaving.I think I definatly really like and apperciate this poem because I was around the same age when my parents divorced and now its been nine years since. Excellent job!
