Cycles

A Poem by JRGene
"

One of my early favourites.

"
He waits anxiously for her response
though he pretends not to.
Her presence is felt with every breath
but it's just the wind
and the heartless rain,
tapping their neverending tune
with their cold fingers.
Tap, tap, tap.

"I wish the sun was out with its wonderful evening gown"
He thinks to himself.
Alas,
Every single one seen lately pales in comparison
with the attire the heavens wore for her enjoyment.
Beautiful but not quite,
not quite the same as before.

He wanders into his thoughts
and just then,
the moment arrives when he least expects it.
The good lad brings news from afar.
All is well.
The wait is over.

As he goes back to what he was doing before
with a newfound sense of relief
he realizes the roles are now reversed.
Or so he hopes,
for that is all he can do.
