Imaginary fights

Imaginary fights

A Poem by JRGene

Darkness surrounds me.
The chilling stillness of people driving by
taunts me with its indifference
unbeknownst I am immune to its lullaby

Dogs bark in despair
and lights flicker with the mellow beat
imposed by slight hums and cloudy skies.
while I just silently witness it all from my seat

Is it possible that no one else notices?
no human soul senses the struggle within?
Trust and positivism are no match for a plausible tought
inaction sparks imagination and i can't tell
what's real and what's not.

"I am fine by myself"
my heart replies.
with shivering hands
and watery eyes.

"I am fine by myself!"
I say again, because repeating a phrase
makes it seem so true

"I am fine by myself...
but I'm so much better
when I am with you"
