Unfounded rumours

The moon is up again.

she was the only witness
of what was and could have been.
but she remains silent.

Without her words it is as if
nothing ever happened.
Rumours and speculation.

dissolved into the sands of time
everything has.

Yes has now become maybe
not because of lack of conviction
nor for bad experiences or memories

Forever is measured in days,
and tomorrow, or next year
isn't relevant anymore

The past is remembered better
than it actually was.

But what if it really was?
Would that make living in the past better than
living in the present?
Or should we strive forward
for something we once had
and then lost?
