Ouch! That Hurt!

Ouch! That Hurt!

A Poem by Joby Bottoms
"

This is for entry to an online competition where the theme is about when you've been hurt or have hurt others.

"

Ouch!

That really hurt.

Not because you punched me,

because you tore my brand new shirt.

Ouch!

Don't keep doing that.

Not because it's painful,

because you've ruined my new school hat.

Ouch!

Don't throw the ball at me in the cold wet rain.

Not because it stings my legs,

because they're all laughing at me again.

Ouch!

Give me back my pencil case with my sharpener inside.

Not because I need it now,

because I've had it since I was five.

Ouch!

Don't lie to the teacher about me.

Not because she believes you,

because it wastes the time that I have free.

Ouch!

I know that really hurt you, admit it now aloud.

Not because I kicked your shin,

because now you can't bully the crowd.

Ouch!

Now you know how it feels when they all talk about you aside.

Not because you can't defend yourself,

because of the new dent in your false pride.

Ouch!

I told you not to pick on me when you started your horrible ways.

Not because I sought revenge,

because I knew your bullying wouldn't pay.

Fantastic write!!!! Very different.I like the use of Ouch after every para. The idea of a bully being punished at the end is a good one. Very well written. i am going to save it in my library for a leisurely read later on

The poem nicely points out the unexpected, and not immediately obvious, consequences of our actions.
