That´s the reason that I left

A poem just came to me in the dead of night.. I just added one that you guys barely have had time to read before this new one comes along, but I couldn´t help myself.

When you looked at me you saw her face

In your heart there was an empty space

I didn´t want to be in second place

She gave you love I could not replace

Even when I tried, when I wanted to

I could never be everything to you

She´s the one your heart would never forget

And that´s the reason that I left…

 

How could I bring you that kind of pain?

How could I make you feel that way again?

How could I be so cold?

But what people didn´t know

In the night you whispered her name

Wished for her touch, it never came

Cause when you woke up there was only me

That is why I had to leave

 

You were the dream that I´ll always chase

But from now only in my sleep

Cause I loved you with what I had

But you weren´t mine to keep

She stole your heart, I couldn´t get it back

I sometimes wish that

It was me, my love, my face

But that will never be the case

I walked away, did what I had to do

A hole in your heart, now I have one too

But she´s the one your heart would never forget

And that´s the reason that I left

I think you deserve better and your willingness to go was motivated by live not hate or vindication.
Just imagine how ethereal your soul will be when you find the man who whispers your name in his sleep.
You do deserve to have this love. You will now be free to love yourself enough to allow true, yes love true like your heart.
The sad thing is, he may never find someone who loves him as pure and true as you did...
