70 years

70 years

A Poem by Johanna
"

For every heart lost and broken.

"

70 Years

Love faced its deepest fears

Being hunted by guns and spears

A bloodsoaked battle on all frontiers

And today it has been 70 years

Locked behind fences and bars

Killed for being who they are

In the sky a David star

The open wounds have become a scar

That the world tries to share

Today it has been 70 years

Refusing to let memories clear

Shocked beyond belief of what we hear

The thought of such hatred burns our ears

and today it has been 70 years

Walking on the ground they walked

Where they lost hope, where they fought

A place where so many lives were lost

If only they were still here

The ground is covered in tears

Today it has been 70 years

A world united to show they care

But a day is almost too much to bear

Standing in the sadness and shame the worlds wears

Today it has been 70 years

Sending up another prayer

We will never forget

The hatred of our people´s past

Hoping there is only love left

Love faced its deepest fears

We won´t let it happen again, everyone swears

Today it has been 70 years

This was so sweet, and shows what an amazing huge heart you have to write about remembrance day.
You really can write about almost anything can't you?
I liked how you repeated the same line, today it has been 70 years, makes this piece sound even more poetic.
I love the whole story line, its so honest, powerful, moving, inspiring and deep.
You have a truly talented, beautiful, and BIG heart!

Great write. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The Holocaust is one of the greatest tragedy of our past. However, I think we're meant to make the same mistake twice. It's happening all over again, in the Middle East. I look forward to reading more of your work.
