![]() Uttered SmileA Poem by John WanderleiTangle, lost and precise We both mix around like paints in a line While raindrops drown out everything around us We came undone to be remade Don’t worry we’ll be stitched back together while Sounds deafen Flavors blind Instincts override When you uttered a smile the sky burned (chrs) And the clouds melted rain. Liquids and solids bend their shape We swallow each other whole Eyes burn bright when you smile (chrs) Skin liquefies through sheets Ice and water flow through veins in every beat While volts run down our leg from our stomach We’ll make a mess until we’re pure And could care less to be immature Bright lights bend Thoughts are blurred Flavors blind When you uttered a smile the sky burned (chrs) And the clouds melted rain Liquids and solids bend their shape We swallow each other whole Eyes burn bright when you smile (chrs) You know when we’re alone the shadows are so cold But they’re the only comfort for now We’ve wandered the earth And watched the lights melt From many sleepless nights abandoned But imagine life to be shorter if we could ever fall asleep Imagine life to be shorter if we could ever fall asleep Asleep (echo) Asleep Asleep Why can’t I fall asleep? Why can’t I fall asleep? Why can’t we sleep? While the sky caught fire And the smoke filled our lungs And the embers floated over our heads We held on to our feelings for so long And we let them slowly waste away(x4) Bright lights bend Sounds deafen Flavors blind Thoughts are blurred When you uttered smile the sky burned (keep it for awhile) And the sky melted rain (please keep it for awhile) Liquids and solids bend their shape (won’t you stay?) We swallow each other whole (burn each other down) Eyes burn bight when you smile (keep it for awhile). © 2012 John Wanderlei |
