Love

Love

A Poem by John Anderson

Words capture it not.
It consumes the universe.
It’s the colour of tangible invisibility.

Indeed, it’s the heart of matrimony,
An infinite covenant.
I ponder upon its dimensions, unable
To fathom its design.

It’s both concrete and abstract.
It rescues. And it destroys. It’s both
A blessing and a curse.
Nevertheless, it’s a necessity.

It cures and heals wounds of the
Spirit. It’s as mystical as the
Morning Star, as controversial as
Scriptures.

Once affected, it overwhelms the
System, tugging at one’s intentions,
Moving the soul through various
Emotions.

Wherefore, one becomes doleful,
Saturated with mixed-feelings.

It intrudes upon thoughts, hijacking
One’s psyche.

But if it unravels favourably, it sets
Lovers on high, mesmerizing
Existence, where nothing but love
Floods the senses.
