A Visit to The House of Death

A Visit to The House of Death

A Poem by Jokorium

As I sit here pondering, on the steps of Deaths door,

I look towards the sky and tears fall from their darkened cloud.

Knowing that I am both physically weak and mentally poor,

I step up to the house of Death, and slowly knock aloud.

As I stand there, waiting and waiting for some reply,

Death opens up the door, takes a glance at me, and says "Your time is not yet done".

My knees buckle as I cry, "But I am ready!....Why?!?"

Death looks at me again, silently. "Your life has simply just begun".

Even Death, when I willingly gave myself to him,

Rejects me, and turns me back towards my life.

He says " Even in this darkness, your light has yet to grow dim."

"But..." I say to him "All these troubles, they are so rife"

To this, he simply turns away, and leaves me alone.

I slowly turn and walk away from the house of Death,

And find this note that simply says "Your end is postponed,

You will not see me again, until you take your true last breath"
