Marionettes

Marionettes

A Poem by Jokorium

A slip of the tongue,

A stab of the knife,

Slews of carcasses hung,

Like marionettes devoid of life.

Are we all simply puppets of another,
Made only to do as others approve?

Given the love of a father and mother,

But never allowed to make our own move.

Simply puppets, moving on frail string,

Pulled and manipulated by another’s will.

Not allowed to ever do our own thing,

Our masters never quite getting their fill.

They’ll never be fully appeased,

Even when you do as they say,

No matter how much you try to please,

Even when you do things their way.
