Sweet

Beauty sits like cream on the surface of the bowl

Rich and sweet

Like warm butter syrup.

Nausea spun around the bottle as I drank it in.

Sugar coated smiles all around.

And you’ve just got me balancing on insecurities.

Drunk off flawless skin and soreless looks

But I desperately need something bitter

Just to take off the edge

Of your smooth and porcelin lips

Something so-called ugly

That’s been shaved down to the quick.

Let it grow my darling

It’s just itching to break through.

And we’ll have skin and stains shared over coffee.

Bitter and dark like coffee should be.

And it will always take me by surprise

ha that last line came around so song-like at the end - loving the idea of this - everything's too sweet almost - saccharine and painfully sweet - the touch of bitter to offset the sugar lest you revert to madness - nobody's perfect - but that touch of bitter can still be sweet!

i like how powtic this sounds and it's true that we cdon;t live in a perfect world, we need something with flaws to help balance it out, if everyone was pleasent and nice then the world would be boring, even if it was a better place. great write! ^^
