![]() UntitledA Poem by Jonathan Dalton![]() Written on 20 May 2013![]() I thought I saw someone I used to like sitting outside the town hall. Instinct whipped me round, and I walked away, but then I thought, why? So, because I could, I went to where I thought I saw her, but she was gone.
I thought I saw her in the library too, a few days ago. Again I hid, then pushed myself past, thinking, I have done nothing wrong.
Now I'm sitting with a napping duck on this eggshell-grey day. And I'm not thinking much, but this milk-eyed duck and I share a look: I say, I will not hide from the possibility of her, and he winks, then dozes off. © 2013 Jonathan Dalton |
