While You Were Gone

While You Were Gone

A Poem by Jordan Haley Nadja Black

While you were gone I started having fun
I ran my hands through thick hair
And waded in deep waters
I laid in places unknown
And came home with new jackets
I now know lips that taste so different
I tested powers on the other side
I climbed steep mountains
And danced around deep hills
I traveled another world
And dug dark holes
I was peirced in places that i'd never been peirced before
I held rough hands
And danced in paint
I let cool rain decorate my face
I whisteled dumb tunes
Forgot my keys in the park
I broke down my barriers
I was bitten by the dark
While you were gone
I started having fun
