War Children

War Children

A Poem by Jordan Haley Nadja Black

Small hands
Small feet
Make they're way across the street
The rain falls hard
And tastes so sweet
As children run with blood on they're knees

Guns in hand
They walk on foot
To see a land covered in soot
Where homes once where
And friends once slept
Its now all rubble and ancient defeat

Small palms
Small soles
Have been together all along
They've run so far away together
As waving flags of a new feather

They are the kids of tommorow
They are the kids of today
We're all war children anyway

The poem is sad because it is true. Many places in this world. Children learn how to kill before they learn fun and pleasure. I like the way you described the situation and the strong ending. Thank you for the excellent poem.
