Brick Building

Brick Building

A Poem by Jordyn Zacharias

An old Brick House
With Shattered Windows
And Tattered Curtains
Broken Locks
and Dusty Dishes
overlooks my yard.

The Wind Howls
Through its Empty Eyes
And Speaks through its Teeth
Rattling Cupboards
In a Raspy Snarl
of Shaking Cupboards

Rain Drips
Through Loose Shingles
Blown away in a Winter Storm
Birds nest in the Gustters
And Squirrels in the Rooms
Weeds sprout in the Floorboards
And all is Silent
