A Flawed Design

A Flawed Design

A Poem by Joanne Jayne
"

A mass of expressive words about my feelings at the moment and reflecting on life.

"

In a time and a place where everything new

Would fail of acknowledgements and all that is true.

The ramblings of mortal men all through the ages

The drive to produce these impossible wages

For things that of luxury cannot be without

And I’ll shout

At the impossible standards you want

I’ll be me within and without

I’ll break free from this cell of self doubt

Because I’m free but I’m a prisoner of my own design

In my skin I feel tethered to a life that is less than divine

And I hear you

The voice at the back of my mind

To get real and to leave s**t behind

But it’s true

The direction the wind brought me to

Is my fault

I should learn to steer my own ‘chute

So I’m here and I’m talking to each one of you

To hold dear and resist the pull of this glue

But you’re here like me and you made it this far

So let’s hear it for you

I actually really enjoyed this poem, it captures your inner thoughts and mind and that is what poetry and writing is all about. It is off beat but easy to read and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, Thank you for sharing.

A little jumbled. The meter doesn't work for me and I believe meter is more important to a poem than the rhyme. "The direction the wind brought me to, Is my fault" is a great line and worthy of another attempt - just my opinion, of course.
