Inner Voice

Inner Voice

A Poem by JoshW
"

Trying to get back into writing poetry, this is my latest effort. I hope it's not too vague or confusing.

"

You look at me with such hate; I am not the controller of fate

So why does your mind plot lies, is it because you fear you’re great

Your path is set yet you’re too afraid to put your foot to pace

It is not me it’s who you think of as me

Is it the id or ego that makes it hard to face the challenges ahead?

I am always here but you avoid me like the plague,

I love you but these words you never put faith

I am your guide and support when the world begins to shake

At the end of the day when you dream I stand guard for your sake

But when you close your eyes you hardly hear my voice

You ask who you are and I answer with my face

You see me when you write but you never realize it’s the form I take

I am your strength your god given spirit, your soul so be quiet and listen

You are never alone we are to together but you hide from your purpose

And that is why we must combine your reasoning with my place

Can we come to a blissful co-existence or must you control when you wake

To you I am a stranger but to me we are the same

I reside deep, locked away in your psyche come and find me

I am self so break me free, awaken and see me in my place as we

Open your ears and hear from me

Yours truly, your inner being
