Thoughts From A Stoic Heart

Thoughts From A Stoic Heart

A Poem by JoshW

You request emotion, and a tale shall be told

With words always thought of but few every sold

From this liar’s lips, listen and sip from my well of insecurity

To look in the mirror and hate what you see

Feelings of destined disdain for the monster I become

Excuses? I have plenty, from no father to a hurricane that wiped away the land of my birth

Easy to look and see my feeble attempts to hide my hurt

Tears far when I regurgitate my past mistakes

Memories of regret and inner hate, a bitter taste

But thank god for beer’s forgiving embrace

Liquor, god answer to his terrible mistake

You ask me to feel, you want emotion, here’s a plate

Let’s talk as I endure another shot and contemplate my life’s plot

The good follows the bad and the moments when I can no longer stand

I hear a voice echo from my this barren land, it says I am god, please understand

That you suffer to become a better man

Don’t run from the pain embrace it, you want peace then shout my name

Jesus you gave me this cross, then give me the strength to maintain

I seek death but life is all that I gain, twisted fate I declare I shall not break

From heart break to inner hate, God I place my faith, please your child don’t forsake
