they told me

they told me

A Poem by Jots28

If I had a cent for every teardrop that fell
well baby i'd bye a plane and travel this world.
You could tell me you're sorry in French or Greek
you would forget this, I will turn the other cheek.
If i was on this big ship and it was sinking
I would go down with her without any thinking
comforted by the thought of you safe in the lifeboat
happy I did my bit to keep your dreams afloat.
Now, Mama told to stay away from you.
You are like a drug that I am addicted to
You got me in this haze and all I want is more.
This is too crazy, it should be against the law.
Now, your wasting all my time. I gave away my heart.
If I knew something i'd leave, but I'm not too smart.
Maybe you could teach me some more, tell another lie.
Baby there's a lot left in me, more tears to cry.
If you were a bird I'm the wind beneath your wing.
I'd be the vessel to carry the song you sing.
We could fly so high the world would be far away,
there we can watch the sun set on another day.
If my wishes were horses, baby we would ride
through mountains, on the beaches, me by your side.
I would have a memory that could mean so much.
A moment for us that no pain could ever touch.
Now, Papa told me to stay away from you.
You are like a drug I am so addicted to.
You got me in this haze and all I want is more.
This is too Crazy, it should be against the law.
Your wasting all my time, I gave away my heart.
If I knew something, I'd leave but I'm not that smart.
Maybe you could teach me some more, tell another lie.
There's not a lot left in me, no more tears to cry.
