Dreams

A Poem by joygeee

(2010)

Dreaming of the day when I am grown,
gleaming in the happiness of all that
I have dreamt of being and becoming.

Dreams of becoming a wife. Being there,
for my husband, whenever he needs me.

Dreams of becoming a mother. Being
there, to love, hug and wipe a tear.

Dreams turn to nightmares when the
husband lies and steals, so that I am not
even sure that his love for me is real.
He has stolen my dream. My dream of
a husband and child.

For now, age creeps quietly to tell me
it's to late. You will never feel the
heartbeat inside you or the warmth
of love beside you.

The dream, turned to nightmare, is reality.
