Dying Tropical Fish

Dying Tropical Fish

A Poem by Jake Hajer

Dying Tropical Fish

On the nomad bricks
A yellow heart tripping
To the beat of a pothole
Flaming for years
Crusted clown
Wet of silly tears
Flailing between the cracks
Emotional scales curling
Up on the ends
Grilled
Gills
Having never been in water
Animating gasps
Converting words to smog
