Mythical Jan II

Mythical Jan II

A Poem by Jake Hajer

Mythical Jan II

If chrome evaporated

If pewter pottery dissolved
Behind forgotten

If mirrors were shot-gun splintered
To the ripped canvass sky by the earth’s
Slighted volcano skin

If soldered raindrops were smeared
To a cold powder-paste
By a giant’s iron shop cloud boot

Then you might get the same color
But there is nothing mythical
About January
