Rainy Season

Rainy Season

A Poem by Layla J Omorose

Rainy Season

It looks as if rain is coming,

Dark clouds will shadow the sky tonight.

A heavy mist will cover the horizon

And small girls will dance in the rain.

White flower dressed twirl around their waist.

They laugh and play in the cold rain.

The clouds clash now with thunder on earth.

The girls drop to the ground in tears.

Their red ribbons blown away in the wind.

Dark clouds will cover the sky tonight.

The rain has come to the small town.

Descriptive writing in your poetry takes a scene and repaints it for the reader so we can experience the rain and what it means to the town through the eyes of children who once played in the streets. Softly written but greatly described with vision and imagination. Enjoyed the read.

descriptively delightful and visually magical, the red ribbon in the sky,
the storm, the horizon, the whispering overcast, lovely and transporting
