Spring

Spring

A Poem by JuliaMancini

Can you smell the newness in the air?
We are the baby lambs standing for the first time.
So unsure of what we are doing,
But somehow, we know how.
We take a single step at a time.
Why run when we are only learning to walk?
It is not a marathon.

Do you see the newness of the earth?
As we lay under the sugar maple,
The melted snow dribbles on our faces
As we watch the buds bloom.
Under our heads, the sleeping grass awakes.
Beside our embracing hands, baby flowers pop thier heads
Out of their beds of soil.

The days begin to get longer
As we enjoy more time together.
Every time I see you, thousands of butterflies flutter in my body.
With my delicate hand in your string one,
We jump out of the nest and fly together.

Seasons will never stand still,
Not even for us.
Winters will always come, but spring will always be around the corner.
