TAKING A DETOUR

100-word story

I was lost in the wilderness.

Beyond the horizon, I saw a void of darkness reaching out to me. 

As I ventured, the echoes of deafening silence can only be heard. My soul was slowly deteriorating.

I was losing strength as I struggled to persevere.

One day, a flicker of hope appeared, igniting my spirit to be rattled. Static of life struck my nerves. 

Bright colors filled my eyes. I saw a teary-eyed woman before me. 

“How are you, my child?” She asked. “You've been sleeping for five years.” A sudden surge of warmth overflowed within me, as I cried.
