Light...Is not always good...

Light...Is not always good...

A Poem by JulieNorell
"

This was just an on the spot thing....It goes along with my other poem...Can you see me?....

"

A chill...Cold fingers tracing my spine...

I spin...No one...There is no one in sight...

No one tracing my spine...That I can see...

There...In that tree...A dark figure crouches...

Keeping low in the branches...Hiding...Stalking...

In my warm home...

A tingle...The breath of an intruder...

A hand over my mouth...A scream, muffled...

A knife at my throat...A voice in my ear...

"Boo...Happy Halloween"...

I see the blood...On my clean white carpet...Hear my daughter cry...

There she falls...From the balcony...Rope around her neck...

I see her...Standing there...Watching the man...Crying...Screaming...

She cannot see me...Hear me...Touch me...

I cannot comfort my baby...My child...

The girl with the braids...The little girl in the little white dress...

I watch her...Follow her...She thinks she is alone...

She knows not that I am dead as well...She could not see my blood...or my body...

Then I see a light...Beautiful....White...Golden...

I hear a voice...Sweet melodic...

Nothing I can do? For my baby? My child?

I chase the light...To afraid to make the decision on my own...

Light is not always good...Sometimes light contains darkness...Throws shadows on your soul...I followed the light...Left my child...And now I am trapped...Encased in ice...While the dark soul watches your every move...Tortures with words...

Very dark and interesting nightmarish piece of writing. The vile images and implied fear struck me deeply. Well done.
Cheers!

Wow, dark and pretty epic. I like that you apply fear. Particularly, that you apply fear well. You kind of throw a few different emotional responses out there and then make the reader feel the confusion of the narrator. Good job.
