Too LateA Poem by Aspen LeeThe Earth is dying No matter how hard it’s trying People say that it’s not true But it’s dying, and we will too We try to run from the facts Burying them as artifacts In the end, we’ll face the lies The Earth will die and all will cry The Earth is dying The children crying It’s too late for trying And it’s horrifying The older generations Have ruined our nations They’ve broken our foundations Flinging accusations, expectations We stall and try to hide from fate But there's too much, the weight too great Shadows sit, our end, they await And it's too late, and it's too late The shadows creep, the sun withdrawn Darkness cloaks the earth it sits on The borders of our world redrawn And then it's gone, and then it's gone © 2021 Aspen LeeFeatured Review
