Whispered Shouts

Whispered Shouts

A Poem by Junior Quirindongo

I sit here as I watch you sleep,

Whisper in your ear

That my heart is yours to keep.

It might seem selfish

But I do it for my sake,

Telling you all the things

You wouldn’t believe awake.

I wish you could hear me.

Emotions off my chest

Helps me think clearly.

Why do I lack the strength

To say the things that matter,

Hiding behind your slumber

As my heart chatters?

Whispers originated from shouts,

Lack of strength in me

Not to be confused with doubts.

There will come a day

Other than love you and miss you,

Where we are in front of the world

At the altar and I kiss you.
