Pretty Sure This Wasn’t Part of The Contract

Pretty Sure This Wasn’t Part of The Contract

A Poem by K Ambing

There’s a vast body of water

underneath the down pillow

& moonlight hits the surface

like a finger pressing the

doorbell loudly demanding

to be welcomed once again

so she opens the door once

again because the light's out

& you come with a candle

& she desperately wants to

see something burn because

it’s either her or the candle

so you make the decision

to lit the match & burn the

whole house because it's

cold inside thin ice

covering the floor you’d have

to slip and fall & you hate

falling for anyone & so now

she is burning & drowning at

the same time
