An Object Of Beauty

An Object Of Beauty

A Poem by Krystal Thomas

She was an object of beauty;

An object of what the world deemed worthy of love.

I never truly understood how the world could decide my future of heartbreak;

Until you compared my imperfect human pores to the shadow of a goddess.

Based on engineering perfection into reality,

The world has skewed my face into something of the undesirable.

Something of the unsettling feeling of settling.
