This is how you lose her

He stopped kissing me in July

In the year 2012 my mouth went dry

I asked him why he would not

To which he replied

‘I don’t kiss people I don’t have feelings for it is to intimate’

It hurt so much I became ruthless

That is what I learned, that is what he taught

 

He stopped sleeping next to me a month later

I barely saw him in August or September

Unless it was with her

The other girl

 

Then towards the end of that month

I thought we would get back together

I was wrong

He still wanted no part of forever

Even though we had talked about it some months earlier

 

He stopped making love to me in October

I went numb knowing it was because of her

His other lover

The girl he left me for some time prior

My body and mind became raw again that December

When I finally knew

His relationship with her was over

 

It is 2013 now and still I have not had those feelings

Of passion, love, desire, needing and belonging

Depleted is how I feel.  Unloved and like nobody wants me

I’m only thirty

It’s past the point of confusing

 

Still I try

Following his every command

He still a year later doesn’t reach for my hand

We don’t make love and I asked him again

‘Why doesn’t it happen?’

He never answered

He has no compassion

 

Trust me it’s something you can’t fathom

So I sit here in this year now stunned and forgotten

After all I have done to show him and tell him

 

I’m still not good enough

He said no more love

I don’t dare call his bluff
