Skin to Skin

Skin to Skin

A Poem by Cat
"

but only ever skin

"

I stare up at the clock

It ticks away like an itch I’ve been meaning to scratch you see the the bug spray didn’t work and neither did patience but it’s 1am and I’m feeling frustration that sensation temptation to keep wasting my time.

This generation has made a fool out of lovers so it makes me always need to question others because how can I know that you love me when the only thing you ever want to see is what's underneath.

Baby

I would give you my all if I could.

I’ll let you see past the silk past the denim let you remove all the linen from me.

I’ll let you feel me skin to skin have your hands glide over and in every part of me and when there’s no longer anything left for you to see I just hope your eyes won’t grow tired of me.

And baby

You know that I love you.

I love you more than I love myself sometimes I love without knowing where to begin or even why.

And maybe I’m just rambling but love has always been a gamble for me so instead of telling you how I feel I’ll give you everything that’s real enough for me to offer because my words are never enough.

I know that you love

My body. The way it feels against yours. The way it crumbles with your touch and shivers with your kiss I know you love what you see. I know that it’s all you want. All you need.

Baby

I would give you my all if I could.

I’d offer up my soul my heart the parts of me that need a jump start

I’ll offer up my past and pains if you promise you’ll see past the insane parts of me.

But you don’t want any of that.

So instead,

I’ll let you see past the silk past the denim let you remove all the linen from me.

I’ll let you feel me skin to skin have your hands glide over and in every part of me

But if you can you see past the skin to skin and past those parts of me past the things you can reach for let me teach more about what it means to love someone.

Baby I would give you my all if I could.

But I can’t give what you won’t take.
